Whack-a-Skull for the
Commodore Amiga 500 is a
Whack-a-Rat-style game programmed by Alberto Sgaggero using
AMOS BASIC.
The game was (not so expertly) coded just in time to celebrate Christma— uh, Halloween!
In this spooky mini-game, you’ll hit cheerful little skulls popping up for a quick peek-a-boo from behind their gravestone.
The game is inspired by the classic 1929 cartoon The Skeleton Dance, produced and directed by Walt Disney and animated by Ub Iwerks.
How to Play
- On the title screen, click one of the three speed options to start the game at your chosen pace.
- Use the mouse to move the crosshair.
- Press any mouse button to hit a skull.
- You have 60 seconds to hit as many skulls as you can!
Installation Instructions
- Click on the “Download Now” button.
- You can download:
- Two Amiga disk images (in .adf format):
the first one contains the original version of the game, while the second includes a modification that removes the flash effect when the little skulls are hit (designed for those who are photosensitive or may feel discomfort from flashing effects).

Nice game for Halloween! Only crit would be to remove the flashing, a lot of people will end up having fits with it being that bad

You're absolutely right about the flashing. I actually added a warning at the beginning of the game mentioning the presence of flashes and fast movements, just to prevent problems for sensitive players.
I started working on this game quite a long time ago, and since I was rushing to finish it before Halloween (and didn't really have time or energy to add new graphics), I went for the quick solution of flashing the screen to simulate a "hit."
If I find the time in the future, I might replace the flash effect with something different.
