Flappy Thing for MSX computers

Flappy Thing is a horizontal scrolling mini-game developed by Alberto Sgaggero in 2015. Created for the MSX computer using the native BASIC language, the game is inspired by the famous Flappy Bird. Flappy Thing was later converted for the AMIGA 500 in 2024 under the name Winging Pumpkin (click to visit the game's page) to celebrate Halloween.   

Game Objective
Your task is to guide a 'thing' (a sort of bird, but it could be anything) that flies through a delightfully blue screen; you must avoid hitting the brick walls and not let it crash into the green ceiling and floor. 

How to Play?
The game is very simple. The flying 'thing' tends to fall downwards. By repeatedly pressing the FIRE button on the joystick or the SPACE BAR, the 'thing' will flap its 'wings' and gain altitude. The goal is to stay in the air as long as possible and score the highest points!

Installation Instructions 
To get started, click on "Download Now." 
You will have the option to download various files: 
..a "dsk" format file. You can load the "dsk" file on MSX emulators, such as OpenMSX or BlueMSX, or any other compatible emulator. 
..a "wav" digitized tape file. You can use it to load the program on a real MSX hardware (type the command CLOAD"FT",R then push RETURN key). 
..two printable cassette-tape cover, black and white and color versions. You can print it and use it to create your original Flappy Thing MSX cassette-tape. 
..the source code of the program, available in both bitmap and text formats.
