C=64.REX (Sprites Version)
A downloadable game
*** WARNING ***
Please be careful if you want to try this program on a real Commodore 64. I'm not entirely sure I programmed the game properly (especially the parts involving sprite memory and music), because I mostly learned from the original C=64 user manual and a few tips from other publications. Use it at your own risk!
C=64.REX is a retro game written (very badly) by Alberto (BCO) Sgaggero in BASIC V2 for the glorious Commodore 64.
It is a personal reinterpretation of the Chrome Dino game.
This is actually my very first project using sprites and a very simple SID tune. I think there are a lot of mistakes in it, but somehow it works anyway.
Just like in Chrome Dino, the player controls a very pixelated Tyrannosaurus Rex running across a very colorful but very empty desert.
The project originally started back in 2022 on the Commodore VIC-20 as an entry for a competition, before evolving into different versions over the years.
You can find the VIC-20 version of the game here:

You can find the MSX ASCII (character-modified) version of the game here:

You can find the MSX SPRITES version of the game here:

GOAL
The goal is simple: avoid the strange cacti by jumping over them.
INSTRUCTIONS
Press the space bar to start the game and jump over obstacles.
Have fun!
DISCLAIMER
I didn't compose the music. I used the wonderful SID tune "Moon Patrol", composed by John Ames in 2004:
